How often do you update?
Currently, we don't have a schedule for updating set in stone.
We send confirmation emails when we
receive your stories/comments/questions, and check our emails regularly,
so you'll know we have your story, and if you're really getting antsy,
send a flame to Karo (tee hee, if you actually did that your darling Hana might not be alive today, but encouragement to update is accepted >.>)
How do I submit my story?
We have a separate page with all the submission
information, but I'll put
up some basic facts here. First of all, attach your story, DO NOT embed
it within the context of your email. If you somehow cannot attach your
story, contact Karo or myself and we'll work
something out with you.
Within the email, you have to include certain information, such as which
characters the fic is based upon and
your name. For more info, visit the submission page, where we will have
a much more detailed account of how to submit your fanfic.
Do I need to wrap my story, and if so, how?
Whoa, a double whammy! Fortunately, a simple no will answer this. SF does not require you
to wrap your fanfictions (ergo we're not going to explain how). There
is, however, a catch; actually make that two. If your story
is written in Microsoft Notebook or saved as a .txt file, you'll have to make sure you hit the return/enter key every once in a while
so its not all one long sentence. Those are rather unpleasant to format for web usage, and is a definite send-back for further editing.
The other catch is that if your story/chapter is more than two pages, size twelve font, you must either break it down
into two page or less increments (preferable because when we put in large amounts of content, our navigation strangely goes wacky)
or put in the break tags yourself (break tags for the
non HTML literate, look like this: < br > sans the spaces, and are the equivalent of the return key. Between each paragraph there must be
two break tags). If you fail to do this, we'll send the story back to you for further editing, which is never fun.
What kind of stories do you accept?
We accept pretty much any story to do with
Fushigi Yuugi. Currently, however, we do not
accept hentai/lemon fics, although that is a possibility for the future. If you do wish to submit a hentai/lemon fic, go ahead, just make sure
to specify that it is a hentai/lemon. We will hang on to it, and if we do decide to open an archive, your story will be posted. It all really
depends on how many hentai/lemon submissions we get, so don't be afraid to send it in. If we decide not to open an h/l archive, we may suggest your story
to other archives who do accept hentai/lemons, with your permission of course.
Do you edit/review the stories?
Although we do read through the stories, we do not do any major editing or any reviewing. If we feel your story needs to be edited, we will return your fic
with a note explaining what/why it needs to be edited. We, being the nice people that we are, will most often fix minor typos and misspellings when we
format the story for web usage. If there are any other errors besides these, or there are many of these, we will send the story back for you to fix up
yourself.
I sent in my story but it was returned! Why?
There are several possible answers to this question. First off, as you'll notice when you click the link to email
either Karo or myself to submit a story, we use free e-mail accounts (mostly because we're too lazy to check more than one account daily and
partly because Yahoo doesn't like to notify us when the site account has email). Sometimes, if we exceed our limit,
our email servers will temporarily
shut down our account and bounce back all the emails sent to them. This is fairly rare, as we do clear out our accounts often, but if you get a return
email without a note saying why it was returned, or if the post master returns it, its probably something to do with the accounts. If the email returned
is a reply from one of the SF staff, it will have a note saying why it was returned. Reasons for this may vary, so you'll have to read the note to find out.
I sent in a story but it hasn't appeared in the archives. Why?
This, again, could occur for many reasons. Be sure to check your email to see that it wasn't returned. Another reason
may be that we haven't updated the site since you've sent in your story. If we have updated, it probably isn't up either because it was a "technical" update
(an update where Taishi and Keisu add new links and fix up any bugs on the site - regular site maintenance), or we've had a sudden influx of stories
and yours wasn't amongst the first six to come in (I have a feeling this reason will be the rarest answer to this question...).
Do I have to write my own summary?
Summaries are an mandatory part of the submission process,
and seeing as we do not review the stories ourselves, summaries are
mandatory (please check the submission guidelines for more information).
What program should I use to write my fic in?
Although we don't have any specific program we like to use,
all of our PCs have Microsoft Office installed on them. Therefore, Microsoft
programs (such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Notebook) are
preferred. We cannot open files from programs such as Claris Works, so if we do get a submission
using a program we don't have, we may have to send it back asking if there's any way to put it in another program. Upon these rare occasions, we may allow you
to include the fic in the body of your email, and not as an attachment, so we can copy and paste it into a program we have.
